For a site that is much like this one, with a little less graphical flair...a brochure site, I charge $500 minimum. This includes Joomla! installation, configuration, template selection and design (the layout and graphics), up to 10 pages, and also site hosting and domain name registration for one year. Additional costs are added to this starter price for photo album or complex photo plugin application support, as well as for multimedia, as often, these plugins are not free themselves, and require additional configuration. Shopping cart or other sophisticated application support will add to this start up price as well, due to the configuration as well as the occasional cost of these other applications/plugins. I use an excellent web hosting provider called Dreamhost, who allows me to host multiple sites and domains, so I can share what I already have with you. To start, there's an initial consultation to see if we can meet each others needs, and develop a contract around those needs. Any updates to the site, once it is has been deployed and paid for are $50 per instance. Again, the Open Source community and the Joomla! community offer great resources for you to be able to update your site yourself once it's deployed if you need assistance and wish to do this yourself. That's the beauty of the Open Source community. For anything beyond a brochure site, an initial contract will be formed, but one that allows for extensibility. Though I specialize in smaller, brochure style sites, I do so, because those are the ones that I feel most people need, that don't yet have a strong online presence. The bigger projects are the ones however, that I really enjoy doing, and I'd be happy to work with you on a larger project. But just think...you could have something like this site for under $1,000! Or, a more simple site with the same power for $500! |
